We Are The World...

"We are the world
We are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day
So let's start giving
There's a choice we're making
We're saving our own lives
It's true we'll make a better day
Just you and me"
This lovely song never fails to get me teary eyed... more so when MJ is no longer around. sad I got to know MJ when I was 12 years old, having heard the song 'Ben'. I was moved that I asked my fellow classmate for the lyrics. That was sometime in 1983 and there was no such thing as the internet.

Then in 1985, we performed 'We Are The World' during a school function... well, we were lip-synching actually but I remember we had so much fun, dressing up like the singers characters. I totally forgot whose line I sang to... probably Tina Turner's but I can't really recall. Come to think of it, I can't remember who sang as MJ, Lionel Ritchie, Willie Nelson... but I'm pretty sure Susan B sang Cyndi Lauper's line.happy

Now, Emila from Emila's Illustrated Blog came up with a brilliant meme aptly calling it We Are The World. You see, she was inspired to gather as many bloggers from all over the world on a single list while playing this awesome game quiz 'Can you name the singers from ‘We Are The World‘?'.

I didn't do too well, scoring only 24 out of 36 but I think that's not too bad. applause Try it, you'll get the adrenalin rush cos you only have 8 minutes to name all the singers. And no cheating OK!

OK, I wanna tag my friends Anny, Crystal, KadusMama, Chegu Carol, Sweet Girlicious, Rozella, TH, Kengkaru Kong and Maslight. biggrin

You do not have to be tagged to play along. The game is simple and so are the rules.

1. Copy from *Start Copy Here* through *End Copy Here*

2. Add your site(s) to the list. Just be sure to post at each site you add.

3. Tag as many bloggers as you like so the list keeps on growing.

4. Let me know your blog’s name and url by leaving me (Emila) a comment HERE. I will add you to the master list.

5. Come back and copy the master list back to your site, often. This process will allow late-comers to get as much link benefit as the first ones in.

Bowled Over

Looking for that perfect gift for your loved ones? Are you still undecided or perhaps simply clueless? Well, let me ease your pain. I present you the magical Crystal Singing Bowls exclusively from Silver Sky Imports.heehee

You might be wondering what a Singing Bowl is. It's definitely not a bowl that gets up on stage with a microphone and starts belting out songs for you! rotfl OK, enough with the horsing around already. It's actually a pretty unique bowl that creates a soothing and harmonizing like hum made from over 99.9% pure fused Quartz Crystal. It's perfect for meditation and has even been known to have some form of healing properties.

It's been said that some doctors even use these Tibetan Singing Bowls and Quartz Crystal Singing Bowls as a form of therapy to treat terminally ill patients. It is believed the sound and music that is emitted from this bowls helps the healing process by reinstating the natural sense of balance and harmony with calming musical tones. Aum... Aum... Aum... hypno

I want to just get away from this city and have a peaceful vacation somewhere in a remote place where no one can find me. Be one with nature, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, the choking haze, the internet, work, stress and worries. But that's just not possible at the moment...sighI'm really tempted to get one of those singing bowls and hear it sing away the blues for me.

Ni No Ni No Ni No...

Oh dear! I think my CPU is going to join Michael Jackson soon! cry

Just before lunch time, while I was getting ready for my EC drops, I heard a strange dropping sound. Not knowing what it was at first, I thought it was my old table fan because it does make all kinds of noises. Then I heard a second sound... this time I was pretty sure it came from inside my CPU.

Not long after that, my computer hung. I couldn't move my mouse nor the keyboards. First thing that came to mind was, 'Alamak! Mati la I got one more assignment to do!' LOL! Then suddenly, the CPU made this sound 'ni no ni no ni no'... like an ambulance siren. No joke! heehee I need to do some googling to find out what the possible causes are.

I really have no idea what's wrong with my PC. I had it repaired just a few months back because the heat sync somehow dropped from the motherboard. I have a bad feeling it dropped off again. I badly need a new PC, cos this one has been with me for close to 10 years now. I think it wants to retire already. worried

On a happier note, I just received my second cash out payment from EntreCard. I transfered 30,000 EC points 3 days ago and they've bought back 8,000 EC points from me. That's equivalent to $8.00, about RM28.25 sen. OK la... boleh la juga minum 18 gelas kopi di kedai... hahaha

So anyone whose still a skeptic, don't be. Join EC today!biggrin

The Wolverines

Phew! What a day it's been today! whew

Got up at 6.00 am as my son needed to be at the sport's complex by 7.00 am. He was really excited as he and his team mates get to be Wolverine for the day. He kept reminding me to snap pictures of him, not that I needed to be reminded because I was looking forward to snapping loads of photos for the event.

The event was supposed to start at 8.00 am but the speakers system was not even in place. They should have set that up the first thing but I guess it can't be avoided seeing all the teachers had their hands full coordinating the school children, the attire, sporting paraphernalia and whatnots.

The event itself was pretty decent, with some entertainment provided for the visitors. Come to think of it, when they finally set it up, it looked suspiciously like they borrowed someone's home stereo speakers. We didn't stay very long, left at 10.30 am as there was nothing much left to see except the parents and teachers event which I always avoid. Most parents did the same thing too... perhaps we were all shy to be asked to run seeing how unfit most of us were. heehee

Here are just a few photos. Too many will slow my load time considerably.

Traditional dance... went on for almost 10 minutes! sleep

Gold For Ca$h

I'm so stressed out!atwitshand So many posts to do and so little time. I guess I shouldn't be complaining right? But why do they all have to come at the same time especially seeing as how I'm gonna be busy this weekend.

Tomorrow is my youngest boy's school Sports Day. He wasn't selected in any of the track events (why am I not surprised... hehe) but he along with some of his team mates will be 'Wolverine'. Apparently the team selected Wolverine to be the team mascot for this year. This should be fun, I can't wait!

I suppose he won't be winning any gold medals for me this time out. Hmmm... talking about gold, do you know how to sell gold for cash? No? Well, neither do I! heehee But I know just the place where you can sell your old gold jewelries or scrap gold to Cash 4 Gold. Find out more about the Cash4Gold profile here. The more I think about it, the more I believe it's a good idea.

I'm sure we all got loads of stuff like old gold coins, some long unused outdated gold jewelry or various other precious metals, right? Instead of leaving them lying around gathering dust, why not sell them for some cash. There are a host of places online where you can look up to find some high paying buyers.

OK, now excuse me while I go dig up any unused precious metals around my house to start selling. biggrin

I'll Be There...

Millions of Michael Jackson fans are mourning and I can't help but post this small tribute to him. I'm sorry I made fun of your nose, your skinsad. But you'll forever be the King of Pop!

Rest in peace MJ.

Posting Frenzy

My, my! I seem to be having a posting frenzy lately. No wonder I've already made over 700 postings. I think I'll come up with something special for my 1000th post. Going by the rate I'm writing, that won't be too long from now. Now, I haven't thought of what I'll be giving away or the mechanism but just thinking about my 1000th post excites me. biggrin

You all make sure you participate OK. Do remind me of my 1000th giveaway cos I tend to be forgetful at times. So old already la, coz in another few more years I'll be joining the senior citizen's club.nailbyte

Curtain Call

The one chore I hate most is taking off the curtains for washing. Well, putting the curtains in the washing machine is easy but taking those individual hooks off is just time consuming not to mention tedious, and putting them back is such a hassle.frustrated My curtains are really dusty, I haven't washed them for months already (OK, maybe two or three months at the most). They're starting to smell too. Worse still, it's white in colour. It doesn't help when the weather's been so hot, dry and humid these past few months.

I'm a cleanliness freak. I wash the bedsheets, blankets and towels every week without fail. I can't stand it when the sheets become too crumpled and the towels start to smell musty. Thank god for washing machines! notworthy I've washed my laundry by hand before but never bedsheets and blankets. They're just a tad too thick to be hand washed unless I have the arms of the incredible hulk. Curtains on the other hand, since their purpose is to just cover the windows get less attention from me.

It would be so convenient if only we have something like those professional cleaners from Drapery Cleaning Dallas here. A quick call and they'll come running (of course, they would charge you a little fee) to help freshen my curtains in a jiffy. They don't even have to remove and re-hang my curtains. Now that's what I would call life. If only... daydream

I Want A Pink Ice Cream Truck!

I slept at 1.00am and woke up at 6.20am. With just 5 hours of sleep, I'm drinking coffee after coffee as if it's water. And it's all because of Transformers : Revenge of The Fallen! I managed to get tickets yesterday and watched the show at 9.30pm. My sons are happy, I am happy, everybody is happy! laugh

He was so sleepy this morning I gave him coffee! I hope the caffeine helps him get through his classes today. He was so excited in the cinema last night, even explaining to me the names of the Robots... Jetfire, Barricade, Devastator. I couldn't tell which is which... I may love the movie but I can only recognize Optimus Prime and Bumblebee! heehee

I won't delve too much into the movie coz it wouldn't be nice to those who haven't seen the movie. But, but I can't help but spill just one teeny, tiny info. Please don't hate me! pray

I adore the twins... Skids and Mudflap! They're hilarious. Watch out for the pink ice-cream truck... hehehe

The Great Escape

Of all the countries I've studied about in school, one country stood out most and that is New Zealand! I remember seeing rolling hills and green plains with healthy cows in my school Geography textbooks and those images stuck in my mind until today. I think it's one of the loveliest places on earth to live on. Think of those locations when they made The Lord of The Rings trilogy and you'll know what I mean... daydream

The only 'overseas' country I've ever been to is Brunei and that was way back in 1987. I do hope to travel to New Zealand one day... maybe when the kids are all grown up and I'm retired. I almost made it to Singapore a few years back but I realized I had no passport yet so I couldn't make the trip. sad

If only a few thousand Ringgit would just conveniently drop from the sky, I'd hop on a plane and fly to New Zealand this instant and take advantage of Accor Hotels latest City Super Sale promotion. I even have the hotel in mind... the All Seasons Christchurch. It's just a mere five minute drive from the city centre, and offers great value accommodation in a garden setting reminiscent of a vintage English manor. Hagley Park, Christchurch Gondola, Casino, Museum and Arts Centre are all nearby. Moreover, it's a 100% non-smoking hotel!

Oh wait, have you heard of Accor Hotels City Super Sale? It's for a limited time only so listen up carefully peeps! I'm only going to say this once.

Travellers will be able to take advantage of savings of up to 60% when they book online between 23 - 29 June, for stays between July 10 and September 30, 2009. And there are over 250,000 room nights will be on sale, with rates starting as low as US$25 per night!

If your holiday destinations include Bangkok, Beijing, Hong Kong, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bogor, Hanoi, Manila, Pune, Melbourne and Christchurch (to name a few) then you're in great luck. Check out the site for the full list of covered destination cities and start planning for that great vacation. biggrin
