Give Birth Today!

Why am I still up at this ungodly hour?? Cos I have something to share with you that can't wait till tomorrow :)

Have anyone of you heard of cord blood banking? Sounds pretty gory ya, blood and bank, not really a rosy picture but it sure saves lives! Did you know that if you save your baby's umbilical cord during birth, it can treat over 75 diseases? You didn't? Well, shame on you. Actually I didn't know that myself, so shame on me too!

A baby's cord blood is very rich in stem cells. Just in case you didn't know, stem cells are the master cells (gee, I wonder if there are servant cells as well...) responsible for producing all the mature cells in our blood. I'm not going to get into too much details cos it'll probably confuse you and also myself but let's just say that it has been used in over 10,000 transplants around the world.

In fact, even as I type this post, there is ongoing research looking for potential medical miracles in the future. No one else is more experienced on the subject of cord blood than Cryo-Cell Cord Blood Bank. If you're planning to save your baby's umbilical cord blood, then you should sign up with them.

If you enroll now and deliver your baby by the 28th February (oopps, that's today... hehehe) you get loads of benefits on their special offers. In fact there are no enrollment fees and they have a bunch of payment and financing plans that would suit your budget. Besides, the cost doesn't really matter all that much when it comes to the investment of your child's future.

And just so you're assured of Cyro-Cell's reputation, they have close to 175,000 clients worldwide and boasts of having the industry's highest levels of quality certifications and accreditations. Coupled with their U-Cord® Service, they provide their clients superior value and varies unique features.

So, when you think of baby, think of Cryo-Cell too! OK, now I'm heading to dreamland... ZzZzZzZzZz...

Reality Nites

I just finished watching American Idol 8 Results Show and OIAM3 2nd concert. Phew! Am I glad Nick Mitchell aka Norman Gentle did NOT get through! Thanks to Simon's prayer :)

I don't get the fuss or excitement over Nick/Norman is. They said he was entertaining... I was cringing with fear watching his performance. Totally in the wrong show but it wasn't his fault cos the judges selected him... the judges must have lost a few screws in their head. Selecting Nick over Jamar.... I can never understand that.

I'm pretty happy with the results tonight with Adam and Allison being in Top 12... a bit surprised with Kris Allen though. I thought Matt Giraud would take his spot but I'm sure the judges would pick him for the wild card slot. *fingers' crossed* I'm looking forward to watching next week's 3rd group of 12 perform. I have my eyes on Jorge Nunez, Scott McIntyre, Felicia Barton and Kristen McNamara. I hope they sleep, eat and drink with this mantra in mind : 'Pick-the-right-song!!'.

Now to OIAM3. Amylea rightly deserved the immunity award, though I still question its relevance to the show. I love the song, and Amylea sang with style and ease. Macam sia dibuai-buai seja when I was listening to her. Tomok didn't do too bad either, I think he was decent. I'm pretty sure he will be saved from elimination. And Fify did well too (my son calls her Ikan Emas... must be those big huge eyes! LOL!). Those were the only 3 that captured my attention.

The worst was Rehana. She shouldn't have sang Getaran Jiwa... boring gila. Nobody can sing the song except the late Tan Sri P. Ramlee. If she did what Jaclyn Victor did with Tunggu Sekejap then it would be a different story altogether. I wonder why the finalists chose sad songs just because the theme for the night was Memori Tercipta... I like how Syafinaz mentioned make your own memory when most of the finalists chose sad and soppy songs.

Oh, Aweera... menyanyi ke menyalak tu? Rightly said by Syafinaz :D Esther please la sing a catchy song next week and I think she needs a different hairstyle. The current cut just doesn't suit her face.

Passionate Search

There are so many dating sites online these days that if you were new to the romance game and were looking for a date, you'd be spoilt for choice. Unlike those days during my dating time, there were only a handful of such sites. Yeah, I've messed around with dating sites too... hehehe

These days, all you need to do is run a search for dating sites and you'd get a whole lot of response. How do you even begin to know which one is reputable or not. Then, there is the chance you might find some weirdos out there with very questionable intentions making your dating search a horrible experience.

So, with that in mind, here's a little tip for all you guys and gals, well, mostly the gals, when you go online searching for some romance, be sure to find a reputable site, something like passion search, which is an online dating site catered to helping you find that special someone.

When you sign up with passion search, you'll be asked to create a profile and they offer you loads of tips and guidelines to create a perfect profile. A list of do's and don'ts are there for you follow to safe guard your identity. With their procedures to report spam and abusive members, you know that they have genuine members who are looking for the same thing as you are.

There are three different levels at which you can join passion search, the basic, silver or gold levels. It all depends on your preference. They each come with different features and you suit the one that fits your best. So, if you're really looking for your other half, then passion search is the way to go.

At least you know they have reputable members. You don't want to end up with some looney bin who will one day post compromising pictures of you online now do you? With that said, try not to even pose for any compromising pictures to begin with ;)

Back In My Arms Again

Not having my pc for 3 whole days is pure torture. It's like having someone chop off your right hand, well maybe that's too gory a picture but you get the idea. I missed my pc so much... it may be old, I've had it close to 7 years now but it has served me well.

I don't have the heart to get rid of it, I mean it's not like it's not functioning and it has been upgraded to pretty decent specs just maybe the outer shell looks a little outdated, but otherwise it's a pretty cool pc.

I finally found out what was wrong with it. My computer guy said its heat sink fell off and the darn thing was overheating and kept restarting! It shouldn't happen but it did. It's just one of those unexplained mysteries I guess. Well, the main thing is I have my pc back and I'm so happy having it on my desk again :D

I'm sorry I didn't visit anyone for the past few days ya. But I am back! Now to complete all my pending assignments... nasib baik belum expire... hehehe. Then I have to go through my Google reader and start visiting all your blogs one by one :D

It's Elementary, My Dear Watson...

I just love a good whodunit! I'm not talking about those new shows you see on TV with all those fancy effects and loads of car chase scenes with mindless carnage and destruction. Those shows are not really my cup of tea at all.

What I'm talking about is shows like Murder She Wrote and Midsomer Murders. You know, the kind where there is no violence involved, just good old investigative knowhow from the main characters of the show. The kind where the most obvious suspects are really the innocent ones and the good ones with no motive turns out to be the culprit.

All those plots, twists and turns that go on as the detective tries to slowly eliminate one suspect after the other. Now those are the kind of movies I just thrive upon. I normally picture myself as the main character trying to figure out just who the crook is and half the time I'm totally off the mark! Hehehe

That really is why I just love this site called the 5 minute mystery, a site featured on the ABC news. It's just perfect to cater for the amateur sleuth in me. It's a site that takes mystery solving to a whole new level by turning it into a game. Every Monday and Friday, you get a whole new short 5 minute mystery to solve ranging from diverse topics such as pets, geography, sport and lots more with various levels of difficulty.

You also get a chance to compare your solving abilities with others out there. As you go through the 5 minute mysteries, you get points for finding clues as to who the culprit is. To get a top score, all you need to do is find all the clues and solve the mystery.

One of the stories that caught my eye was 'The Potter Mystery'. It was pretty well written yet with a mystery that was quite perplexing that it had me stumped. Just what a mystery lover like me fancies :D If you're a mystery fan, love whodunits and have this secret passion to be Sherlock Holmes, Jessica Fletcher or even Tom Barnaby, well, this is the site for you!

A PC On MC!

It's such a pain having a sick PC. I'm sending it to the computer guy tomorrow so I hope he fixes it once and for all. I've backed up all my files, deleted all the photos (not that I have anything even scandalous in there) but you just can't trust people these days ya. Who knows, maybe I wanna be an MP one day and they find a picture of me digging my nose, habis la... hahaha!

I've badly wanted to post about OIAM3 first concert on Friday night but it was so annoying having to put up with a PC that shuts down every 5 minutes or so. Anyway, back to One In A Million Season 3. I don't know about you guys but I found this season's stage too 'grand' for the contestants. The music was too loud (I couldn't hear them sing at some points, maybe it was the sound system, I don't know) and those stage lights are really annoying. I miss last season's stage, it was simple but pleasing. Sometimes, less IS more.

Out of the 12 finalists, only 3 stood out (got my attention). They are Rehana or Han who sang Menjaga Hati by Yovie, Rizu for his broadway rendition of M. Nasir's Juwita Citra Terindah. He has a striking resemblance to Zoey, the host for Gerak Geri Gasing, an Astro program for kids. If he doesn't make it in OIAM3, he should seriously try hosting :)

Tomok surprised me the most. It was a credible performance from him, singing a number by Faizal Tahir (Coba). I could see tears in his eyes, he must have a lot of pressure considering the negative things people have been saying about him. If he keeps it up, he just might make it further.

Esther could have done better. I didn't like the way they arranged the song. 'Better In Time' by Leona Lewis happens to be one of my favorite songs. Her rendition was way too slow. And she really has to improve her pronunciation cos I barely understood what she sang. But overall, I like her :) Anyone saw that banner 'Bulih Bah Kalau Kau'? :D

They have this new thing called the Immunity award (by the judges) which I really think is pointless. This is a singing competition based on SMS votes. That was the way the show was based on from the very beginning. The judges shouldn't have any hand in the results and it's not fair to the other contestants. What if the same person gets an immunity every week right up to the finals, then what? They want to give immunity, then come up with a new reality show like Survivor!

Amylea was a disappointment to me. I was really looking forward to her performance. She sang Hujan's Aku Skandal. I think she chose the wrong song. Pija just didn't excite me. Aweera is stuck in the 80's, do we need another Amy Search?? Hmmm... is he going to sing Rock songs every week? As for the rest, well, they were mediocre. I can't even remember their performance, yeah, they didn't leave me a lasting impression. Hopefully next week will be better.

The full list of songs sang by the contestants :~

Anith - That's What You Get (Paramore)
Amylea - Aku Skandal (Hujan)
Simon - Home (Daughtry)
Ayu - Matahariku (Agnes Monica)
Fify - If I Were A Boy (Beyonce)
Aweera - Aku Dah Bosan (Amy Search)
Pija - Lagu Untukmu (Meet Uncle Hussein)
Nine - Cinta Ini Membunuhku (D'Masiv)
Han - Menjaga Hati (Yovie Nuno)
Tomok - Coba (Faizal Tahir)
Esther - Better In Time (Leona Lewis). Check out the video here.
Rizu - Juwita Citra Terindah (M. Nasir)

Who will be eliminated? I think it could be Simon because he's the oldest. I wish he would get rid of that goatee. Doesn't do anything for his appearance. Or it could be a girl. I have no idea... too many possible candidates! LOL!

Now, I wish both the hosts, Marion and Awal would stop making fun of the judges. Yeah, they're older but stop with the father, grandfather jokes already. Paul Moss sure wasn't amused with it. I didn't find it funny either, did you? These hosts should just keep things simple and stop trying to be funny. They are actually a very compatible pair of hosts and I hope they get their act together.

OK, that's my two cents worth of review... hehehe. If you don't agree, feel free to comment... :D

Notipu Nipon Ku...

Before I start figuring out how to get some payday loans to fix my PC, I had better do this long overdue tag by Kadus Mama and Just. As usual some rules and regulations apply but be free to bend the rules a little bit ;)

Copy the questions below. Simply use the first letter of your name/nickname as your answer for each question. You can't use any answer twice and don't use your own name for questions # 3 & 4. After you're done, tag 10 people.

Sounds easy but it's pretty tricky when you start doing the tag... but at least you get to 'exercise' your brain :)
  1. What is your name? Nessa
  2. A four letter word: Nice
  3. A boy's name : Nostradamus
  4. A girl's name : Nefertiti
  5. An occupation : Nurse
  6. A color : Neon
  7. Something you wear : Nightie
  8. A type of food : Noonsom Bambangan
  9. Something found in the bathroom : Needle
  10. A place : North Pole
  11. A reason for being late : Notipu nipon ku (My tooth broke!)
  12. Something you shout : Nanti kauuu!!!
  13. A movie title : Nightmare on Elm Street
  14. Something you drink : Nescafe Gold
  15. A musical group : Nice Stupid Playground
  16. A street name : Nanas Hill Road (Jalan Bukit Nanas, KL)
  17. A type of car : Nissan
  18. A song title : No One by Alicia Keys
  19. A verb : Nag
10 very beautiful people I'm tagging...

Crack, Fizzle and Pop!

If you don't see me online at nights the next couple of days means that I've been kidnapped by aliens. Either that or I've ran away with Michael Schumacher (hahaha), like as if that would ever happen... *rolls eyes*

It's my pc at home. It's going to crap out on me. It's already started hanging on me at random hours of usage and the last time something like that happened, I needed to get my hard disk replaced... sighhhh! And things didn't get better. When I called my computer guy and explained the situation, he said it could be either the hard disk, the RAM or the motherboard. Yeah, right, like as if that helps make me feel better. Why not say the whole damn thing is corrupted!

In fact, the PC might just decide to shut down on me right now. OK, maybe I shouldn't have said that, who knows, it just might be listening to me! Seriously though, if it dies on me, I'm probably going to need to get a cash advance loan cos whether it's the hard disk, the RAM or the mother board, one thing that is going to be the common factor is that it's going to cost quite a bit.

Why do things like these happen to me? Especially when it's so close to month's end when you need to squeeze every drop of money you have left until payday. Damn those computer gods, go make someone else's PC go kaput instead of mine. I could do with a little less stress in my life right now.

OK, enough of complaining, I'd better post this now and go get ready for American Idol 8 (the repeat show). I can't wait to see their performances. So, if you don't see much of me at nights means my PC has finally upped and died on me...

American Idol 8 ~ First 12 Of Top 36

Let me 'borrow' Amir's tagline 'I'm sorieee' coz for the coming weeks, I will be blogging about reality shows. In case you're wondering who Amir is, well, he's a contestant in another of Astro's reality show called 'Raja Lawak', a 'Last Comic Standing' rip-off as far as I'm concerned. It's an awfully painful show to watch cos the contestants are totally not funny at all! I gave up watching after 2 episodes!

Phew... finally, the auditions are over for AI8 and we could see for ourselves the contestants singing, without the editing. Please do not read any further if you wish to watch the show for yourself. (6pm ~ Malaysian Time)

I won't comment on their performances, just the title of their songs. The theme for tonight is 'Songs from the Billboard Hot 100'. And only 3 will automatically advance into the Top 12! The results will be shown on tomorrow night's Result Show. The first group of 12 performing are as follows :~
  1. Jackie Tohn ~ 'A Little Less Conversation' by Elvis Presley
  2. Ricky Braddy ~ 'A Song for You' by Leon Russell
  3. Alexis Grace ~ 'Never Loved a Man' by Aretha Franklin IN Top 12
  4. Brent Keith ~ 'Hicktown' by Jason Aldean
  5. Stevie Wright ~ 'You Belong to Me' by Taylor Swift
  6. Anoop Desai ~ 'Angel of Mine' by Monica
  7. Casey Carlson ~ 'Every Little Thing She Does is Magic' by The Police
  8. Michael Sarver aka Oil Rig Man ~ 'I Don't Wanna Be' by Gavin DeGraw IN Top 12
  9. Anne Marie Boskovich ~ 'Natural Woman' by Aretha Franklin
  10. Stephen Fowler ~ 'Rock With You' by Michael Jackson
  11. Tatiana Del Toro ~ 'Saving All My Love For You' by Whitney Houston
  12. Danny Gokey ~ 'Hero' by Mariah Carey IN Top 12
Since I can't vote, America please vote for Danny and Anoop! :D And since we're on the subject of American Idol and all that, I'd like to tell you a little about the New Ford, since Ford was founded by Henry Ford who happens to be an American... hehehe. I know that has no relevance to the show but seriously though, of all the Ford's I've seen, I like the Ford Focus the most, since it has been Rally-proven :D

I think I had better get out of here now before you all think I've gone nuts... LOL!

One In A Million (OIAM) Season 3 Top 12

Oh boy! Reality shows galore. We have American Idol 8, Akademi Fantasia 7 will be starting next month and OIAM 3 has picked its' Top 12 finalists.

Watching the show last night was such a torture. It pains me having to sit through 1 hour of local production, the editing and the way the show was presented was just dull. Thank goodness for Midsomer Murders, even if it was a repeat show. Yeah, I could opt not to blog about it but I can't help but 'ride' with the fever. It doesn't hurt to get a few hundred hits for my blog too... hehehe

I'm not so keen with the top 12 of OIAM3. No one has impressed me yet. Most of them sang dull songs during the auditions so I hope the finalists pull out something good during their live performance which will start next week (Friday). Anyway, here are the full list of the finalists.

  1. Norafizah Mohd. Yasin @ Pija (ex Mentor 2005)
  2. Amylea Azizan (ex AF3)
  3. Shah Indrawan Bin Ismail @ Tomok
  4. Simon Christopher
  5. Zulqarnain Jaafar @ Nine
  6. Elizabeth Applunius Chin @ Esther
  7. Fify Emielia Shazlin Bt. Ahmad Murshaidi
  8. Nurhidayu Md. Tekhary @ Ayu
  9. Muhammad Ridzuan Shariffudin @ Rizu
  10. Nasharul Aweera Norisyissham
  11. Rehana Mohd Yunus (ex Bintang RTM 2007)
  12. Anith Aqilah Sulaiman Lim
Anyone recognize any names there?

The Price Of Love

I'm sure all you love birds out there are going to be pretty excited about tomorrow being Valentine's Day. Probably got your gifts for your loved ones all ready, a nice candlelight romantic dinner all planned out and ready to have the time of your life, ya.

As much as I think Valentine's Day is good for those newly in love but I just think that it's getting to be an incredibly expensive occasion to celebrate. Anything and everything that has to do with love and romance is going to be totally hiked up way pass its real value. This is probably the time all those florists are going to be smiling all the way to the bank :D

With that said and done, I'd like to wish you all a Happy Valentine's Day with your loved ones tomorrow. Hope you love birds have a blast... hehehe. Anyway, here are some weird things you probably didn't know about Valentine's Day.

* Men spend almost twice as much on Valentine’s Day as women do. This year, the average man will spend $156, while the average woman will only spend $85.

* More than nine million pet owners are expected to buy gifts for their pets this Valentine's Day.

* According to the condom company Durex, condom sales are highest around Valentine's Day, which are 20 percent to 30 percent higher than usual.

* Penicillin, a popular treatment for venereal diseases such as syphilis, was introduced to the world on February 14, 1929.

* Teachers receive the most cards on Valentine's Day, followed by kids, moms, wives and sweethearts.

* In Japan, women are expected to give chocolate and other gifts to men on Valentine's Day. This tradition was started as a marketing campaign by Japanese chocolate companies. Men are not off the hook, unfortunately. They are expected to return the favor on March 14th, commonly known as White Day.

The Eyes Have It

Contacts or eyeglasses? Which do you prefer?

If my eyes weren't too sensitive, I'd definitely go for contacts. I've always wanted to get rid of my eyeglasses. I can't even remember when I first started wearing them. But I guess it also totally depends on the design of your eyeglasses. It is important to find the right frame to suit your face. Some frames can make you look horrible while some can make you look like a movie star... hehehe

The New York Times wrote a great article about eyeglasses which I think everyone should read. They came up with some pretty interesting facts about eyeglasses.

This is definitely my favorite pair from Zenni Optical! But, you won't believe the price (frame included)... all for only $12.95. Yes, really, you read right, $12.95, that's all. If you dislike the color, they also have frames available in black and clear/white as well.

Maybe it's high time I looked into changing my pair of glasses :D

Hot Wheels To PlayStations...

I think I'm going to have some major problems with my younger boy soon. He's now beginning to start asking for some pretty high end toys. A couple of days ago, he came to me and cheekily said he would be the happiest boy on the block if only he had a Playstation 3 to keep him occupied after school!

He's never really asked for expensive stuff before, well if you consider that bicycle he's been asking for, the other things that he normally wants is just those Hot Wheels cars. And they're pretty reasonably priced. So I have no issues with buying him loads of those cars. But a Playstation 3?? Does he even know how much that cost, let's not even talk about the price of each game, which I know for a fact can't be bought from those... urrmm, 'cheap' game shops.

The worst part is he'll probably keep on dropping not so subtle hints about how the quality of his life would improve tremendously if he had one... yes, that boy can be rather funny at times, not to mention persistent. Maybe I should surf the net and find out just how much one of these things really costs. I have absolutely no idea at all cos I'm not the console game playing kind of girl. I prefer my games downloaded free directly from the Net :D

I guess ShopWiki would be just the perfect place to search for some details regarding playstations and all the additional accessories such as the wireless sixaxis controller and all that kind of high tech stuff. In fact, ShopWiki, which is a little like Google in the sense that it crawls the web looking for every single item that you may be searching for and is so unlike your regular sites that show you only stores that have paid to have their placements shown there.

I hope I don't faint when I actually see the price for one of these things. Anyone selling cheap second hand gadgets?? :)

Sleepy Head

2009's pace is going rather slow... just like a lazy Ox toiling the field. Maybe it's just me. I haven't been updating my blog as much as I would like to and I'm also guilty of not visiting my blog buddies regularly. My apologies ya.

I do read your blogs via my reader but haven't got the time to leave comments, and whenever I could squeeze some time, I could only managed to leave comments in one or two blogs :( I've also been feeling pretty lethargic ever since the year started. Too many things to do, too little time in my hands... I guess I'm not very good with time management. Sigh, sighh... sighhh...

I get exhausted by the time it's 9pm! I envy those who are able to stay up till the wee hours of the morning, I just can't... if I do, I'd have the keyboard's imprint on my face instead. And drinking loads of coffee doesn't make any difference to me, caffeine does the opposite to me, it makes me sleepy! Betul ni!

I remember an incident way back in 1988... I was taking my SPM and I was staying over at my best friend's place to do some revision. It was way past midnight and we were both really sleepy. So I suggested we make a pot of coffee. The next thing we knew, we found ourselves feeling sleepier instead of refreshed. My friend said maybe she should throw away the rest of the coffee! LOL!

Coffee story aside, I'm so excited about American Idol 8 Hollywood week last night. There are so many talented ones. And these guys impressed me ~ Danny Gokey who sang 'Kiss by A Rose', Anoop Desai, Jorge Nunez, Michael Sarver and Matt Giraud. I hope they'll make it to Top 36. OK, gotta go... take care everyone!

Holy Cow! Look, It's Amy!

You're probably wondering who Amy is... Well, read on and you'll find out soon enough :)

The year of the Ox seems to be kind to me so far. In my earlier post I was complaining about how the assignments have been few and far between and maybe the Ox would bring me luck... assignment wise. Guess what, I actually do have an assignment waiting for me. Not really waiting, I had to log in and book it and all that but I do have an assignment to do :D Now hopefully I can get loads more and become super rich in no time... LOL!

Anyway, what I want to tell you or rather let you know is about this American comedian and actress called Amy Poehler. She's probably best remembered for her movie titled Baby Mama. Some of you might even know her from her Saturday Night Live stints. She was also one of the first cast members from that show to have been nominated as Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series at the Emmies.

Well, she has recently created a new digital TV show targeted for young girls. The show is called Smart Girls at the Party and is about helping young girls build up their confidence. You can catch Amy Poehler conducting interviews with a few young and extraordinary girls of various ages on how they are changing the world with dance, art and music. The way she does the interviews alternates between being serious to absolutely hilarious!

And after watching it, I think the CosmoTV widget is just what our young girls need to watch when it comes to making choices and decisions. Check out the widget below and you'll see what I mean. In fact, if you like it, which I'm sure you will, you can even get your own widget here to put on your blog. And feel free to spread the word about this show using your own favorite social mediums like Facebook and MySpace.

Alive And Kicking

The long Chinese New Year break has finally come into the last day and it's back to the daily grind of the usual routine from tomorrow. Well, I wouldn't say that I'm not looking forward to it cos it can be really boring staying home all week and having to entertain two noisy and hyper active boys all day long.

The week was pretty decent really which left me with loads of time on my hands. Most of it was spent just chilling out. I didn't even bother getting online much throughout the week. Well, once or twice to check if there were any assignments or not. Assignment wise, it's been pretty darn slow since before the Chinese New Year. Hopefully the Ox will bring a cart-full of assignments my way soon.

Other than that, I had a mind-numbing experience at the hospital a few days ago. Don't be alarmed, it was just a blood test to check my Thyroid level which was long overdue. I've been having anxiety attacks for the past few months and the doctor prescribed this medicine to lower my heart rate (I think). I feel slightly better now but I still have another appointment this Wednesday. Hope it's nothing serious, wish me luck ya :) OK, that's all for now... tata...
