Perfect 10

.

Today, January 23rd is my youngest son's 10th birthday! He reads my blog, well, he hovers behind to see what mommy reads and writes most of the time :) So send your wishes to the brat... urmm... to the hensem young fella ya :D

He had a birthday treat at KFC yesterday. Bought him a soccer ball a few days back. I have yet to buy him the bicycle I promised him last year. I'm still not convinced he'd be careful cos he did fall from a bike (borrowed from a friend) a few months back and he didn't even tell me about it. Well, I can be such a nag at times so I don't really blame him.

This morning I totally forgot about his birthday. He was munching on a piece of sausage while having his coffee when he said, 'Mommy, wish me a happy birthday... I want a birthday cake, cup cake also can... no need the candles... and I wish to be thin'. All in one sentence! I gave him a bear hug and a peck on his forehead, feeling bad for forgetting to wish him his 10th birthday. I really must be getting old.

Here's an early Chinese New Year wish to all. Now, you don't have to be a Chinese to celebrate CNY ya. We Malaysians celebrate all our fellow friends' festivals :D Gong Xi Fa Cai!!

Lucky Numbers And Gadis Lucah!

I've been getting quite a huge number of junk/spam SMSes for the past few weeks. And it's becoming very annoying!

Just last night, I received an offer on special 'lucky' cellphone numbers that I can bid and another one this morning where I could subscribe for 'Gambar Gadis Lucah'. Seriously! I have no idea where these morons got my number from. I rarely give out my number to strangers... and I get pissed off when I'm in a middle of a meeting or an urgent work or sleeping peacefully in the middle of the night and my handphone beeps, only to find rubbish being sent to me.

It would be helpful if my phone has a spam box, just like email so I don't waste my time reading spams. But at times, these junk SMSes provide some comic relief... I have on a few occasions received SMSes that were wrongly sent to me. One from a couple who just broke off and wanted to meet up... all in Bahasa Indonesia! LOL!

I have a feeling someone or a company is selling information to another party. Just recently I came across an ad on The Sun about this person selling 10,000 updated email listing and 1000 updated phone listing at RM100 for each listings. Isn't that illegal? Where did they get the sources from?

I think it's really unscrupulous of them to do such things. I wonder if I could sue these people. I might even get rich... hehehe. I guess it would be hard to really pinpoint the exact source of the people selling my details, which I suspect very likely come from credit card companies, maybe phone card kiosks (selling pre-paid and reload cards) and perhaps even banks!

Oh well, until there really is some kind of law, I guess I'm just going to have to get used to receiving SMSes for all these so called 'nude picture' offers and get rich schemes coming to my phone. At least some of them do provide some form of entertainment :)

Itchy Fingers

Saturday mornings can be quite a bore sometimes. The boys are off at school with replacements classes for the coming Chinese New Year holidays and I've done all my chores already. It's amazing how much stuff you can get done in the morning without the two hooligans running here and there and getting into all sorts of mischief... hehehe

Now I'm totally bored. I have to go out later but then I've got to wait for the boys to come home first and until then I'm going to be sitting here twiddling my thumbs doing nothing. I could always watch TV but I'm not a morning TV person. My shows are mostly reserved for night.

I really should take up some hobby making. And I'm not talking about my paper cuttings. More along the lines of creating cute little ceramic stuff. I've always had this penchant for creating miniature stuff like fridge magnets, ceramic mugs, plates, ornaments, even earrings but have never really followed up on that passion.

Whenever I go shopping, I always see those small kiosks selling all kinds of trinkets such as those cute little miniature fruit and food shaped fridge magnets and I know I could also do something along those lines but one of the main things that has held me back is the difficulty in finding the material and equipment to start. That has always put a damper on my enthusiasm.

But the urge to finally start on my hobby becomes more pronounced at times like these when I have absolutely nothing to do. So, I decided to check online and see if I could find someone who distributed the stuff I need. I mean, if I can't easily find the stuff here, maybe I could online, ya? And presto, what do you know. The gods must be looking out for me cos I came across the AMACO Clay Products & Supplies website and I was overjoyed :D

The site is a haven cos they have all sorts of ceramic items like ceramic paint and ceramic colors that one can utilize to create those beautiful fridge magnets, mugs, clay art dinnerware and a whole lot more. They're an absolutely great site if you wanna dig out your creative juices cos they have absolutely everything from arts and craft products for teachers, kids, craft designers and even for professionals.

Ok, enough of telling you all about it cos I wanna go browse through the site while I have some quiet time and see if I could purchase some stuff from them online. If you're interested in these sort of crafty stuff, then I'd recommend this site to you.

Have You Ever...

Nah, another tag! I don't wanna keep the tags for too long or else it'll be like last year... sampai bertimbun-timbun! My second meme for the year is called 'Have You Ever', tagged by the ever beautiful Marzie, who is also a cat lover :D She called it a fun and easy tag, and indeed it was...

I'm not tagging anyone... I'm being very nice this year. So, everyone can breathe easy now :)

1. Have you ever been on TV?
Yes, way back in 1980... masuk TV to accept the bantuan sekolah (susu, pensel, kasut) from Datuk Harris Salleh, Sabah's chief minister then.

2. Have you ever sung in public?
Yes, many-many years back... now, I don't think I have the courage to even touch the mic.

3. Have you ever dyed your hair blond?
Nope, but I've bleached it before... really kerja gila coz it caused my hair to have split ends.

4. Have you ever eaten frogs' legs?
Yes, when I was a little girl. Now, no way! Pity those frogs...

5. Have you ever received a present that you really hated?
Urmmm... yeah, and I re-gifted it to someone else! Jahat kan :D

6. Have you ever walked into a lamp post?
No, but I've bumped onto people a few times. You know when you're walking towards the right or left and that person also makes the same movement. Macam menari seja...

7. Have you ever cooked a meal by yourself for more than 15 people?
Yes, during parties. I love cooking but not the cleaning up part.

8. Have you ever fallen or stumbled in front of others?
Oh yes! How embarrassing... fell from a bicycle into a drain in front of 2 cute boys some more! I was 13 years old then.

9. Have you ever done volunteer work?
Yes.

Colorful Eyes

It's that time of the year again where I feel like changing the frames for my glasses. I normally go through this phase every now and then. I've had my current glasses for a while now and the frame is really not in fashion anymore. Besides, I need to also check the power levels again. I've always had trouble when it comes to choosing a new frame.

Maybe I should really consider getting contact lenses. I did toy with the idea of getting a pair a long time ago but the price of the stuff alone was enough to turn me off. And the many stories I heard about how difficult it was to put on and how uncomfortable it was when using for long periods of time kept me away.

These days, with new technology comes new improvements for contact lenses. One good place to look for contact lenses would be ACLens.com seeing as how they carry practically every major brand right down from Biomedic, Ciba Vision up to Acuvue. Most of these brands come in all sort of styles. The daily disposable kind, the weekly disposable kind, the monthly disposable kind and even bifocal contact lenses which was unheard of those days.

The site is pretty informative too. One product that really caught my eye was the LensAlert which counts down the number of days left for you to change your contact lenses and also the lens case. Now, that's a pretty intelligent contact lens!

Lensalert

I suppose with advancements such as these in the contact lens industry, I might just finally ditch my frames and get myself some contact lenses. Imagine I could have colored contact lenses and have a different eye color everyday, just like a 'Mat Salleh'... hehehe

The Pen Is Mightier Than The Keyboard!

Sorry for the lack of updates. Been overwhelmed with so many happenings lately, I think I'm gonna have a head full of white hair by the end of the year! But I guess I have to look at things positively and make the best out of life. I tend to only see the negative side of things and forget the more important things. I must try to get rid of that bad trait.

OK, let's carry on with something less depressing. I'd probably lose all my faithful readers if I do nothing but whine ya. So, here's a tag by Kadus Mama called the 'Handwriting Tag'... which is self-explanatory :)

Here we go :~

Now, that was a piece of cake... hehe. For all you guys whom I've tagged jangan buat tak tau ya... but no obligations if you don't feel like doing the tag.

On another note, I am so happy all my reality shows are making a comeback. Can't wait to watch the latest season of the American Idol 8 auditions. Not really interested to see the weird and crazy participants but I sure love to see new talents.

Oh, by the way, the 1st audition for Akademi Fantasia 7 will be held this weekend too. I heard Singaporeans are also eligible to participate as well as singers. And One In A Million 3 will also be starting its latest season pretty soon. Hope to see more Sabahans in the fray :D

Nip Here, Tuck There!

I was watching British Next Top Model (Season 3) last night and I was horrified to see the change in Janice Dickinson's face! She was on the verge of not looking like a human being anymore.

She's not the nicest of people, that's for sure. She speaks her mind and most of the things she says, ok, all of the things she says are laced with acid... I pity the girls but I guess it makes the show interesting to watch. I mean who wants to see reality shows without the drama ya.

Back to Janice, I first saw her in Tyra Banks' show ~ America's Next Top Model Season 2. She looked lovely back then. That was years ago. Being in show biz, one has to maintain the beauty especially in the fashion industry where the media can be very unforgiving and where every wrinkle or flab is highlighted for all to see.

Body wise, she looks drop dead gorgeous at her age. She is 54 years old by the way! I'm sure she has had breast uplift procedure. I suppose getting a breast uplift or mastopexy as it's called is a great way to raise and reshape your breast giving it a much younger and rejuvenated feel to it. Good for your confidence too I suppose.

And MYA is one good place to get it done if you think your asset needs some uplifting. They have a team of handpicked personnel consisting of some of the most experienced and skilled surgeons on the planet. Best of all, they offer the full range of surgical or non-surgical procedures that provide you with a host of options with an affordable and flexible finance package. Wah, flexible finance package some more! :D

Woe Is Me

This morning while I was getting dressed up, I was doing the usual brushing my hair this way and that. Lo and behold, I see a glimmering light in the mirror. I look closely and my heart skipped a few beats.

OMG! It can't be!! I may not have perfect vision but my eyesight isn't deceiving me. Upon closer inspection, it's strand of white hair! A white hair, it can't be true. I never thought I'd be having white hair at the tender age of 37 :*(

I look again. No, it's not an illusion. It's for real. I have a blooming strand of white hair on my fringe! Ciss! Well, I could always pull it out but there's an old saying that if you pull one white hair, a million more will appear. I wouldn't want that to happen. Uh-huh, no way!

So I guess, I'll just have to find some way to blend it in my the rest of my black hair. Looking like Rogue from the X-Men can't be all that bad ya. But I'm still in a state of disbelief!

What Can You Do With RM1.50??

I went to both my sons' schools today since it's the first day of school and I have to settle the usual school fees and stuff. As usual the primary school was packed with parents but this year it was less chaotic.

My younger boy is in year 4 now. My little baby is 10 years old already, how time flies!! When I was at his school this morning to pay his fees, I waved at him but he didn't even wave back. Ciss!! He's always shy to acknowledge me whenever he's with his friends... grrrr... Well, I suppose he doesn't want to be seen as a mommy's boy or something.

But I was not prepared for what was about to happen next. When it came to my turn, I couldn't believe it when the class teacher asked for RM1.50 only!! I was expecting it to be around RM100 like last year. Imagine my surprise and happiness :D :D Having to pay only RM1.50 was heaven sent! Next was my eldest son's school which was just beside the primary school. It was even better coz I didn't have to pay a single cent over there!

At least now I don't have to take any Payday Loans. You know the kind, one of those personal cash advance solutions where you can obtain a quick, secure loan from places like Personalcashadvance.com. Signing up and getting qualified is so easy that you probably don't even need any documentation at all.

All that aside, the day turned out to be an even greater one when I received Emila's lovely knitted handphone cozy today. I won her Christmas giveaway contest last December and it is such a joy to add another of Emila's great handiwork (in addition to the apron) in my collection :) Thank you so much Emila!

Now if only everyday can be like this, then 2009 won't be such a bad year after all :D
