But it was still a great wedding. The bride wore a simple knee-length, peach-colored dress with minimal make-up, the groom looked dashing even though he only wore a white shirt (no tie) and blank pants. Both couple made it clear way before the wedding that they didn't want to spend lavishly for their wedding as they're saving to buy a house, which makes great sense!
They didn't even hire a professional wedding photographer, instead relying on friends and colleagues to snap their photos, which again I thought was a stroke of genius. But they did buy a pair of exquisite wedding bands, each having their name engraved. The groom later joked the rings took out quite a bit off his savings but he didn't mind as money can always be earned.
I did manage to get some shots of the entire affair on my cheap cell camera but the quality is so pathetic that I hope some of their other guests got better shots for them. Maybe hiring a professional photographer for something as important as this may have been a better idea.
There are many affordable ones out there and if only their wedding was in Richmond, then they could probably look up David Proett, a wedding photographer richmond va who does wonderful work in immortalizing those special occasions for all eternity. He specializes in weddings, portraits, high school seniors and even newborns, basically just about anything that requires photography. You people in Richmond are so blessed to have him.
Anyways, I'm getting way out of context here, I need to post this now and go stop a fight between two hardheaded kids who are on holiday and driving me up the wall with all their mischief!

10 mumbles:
No matter how lavish or simple a wedding is it seems that the sight of new love is just inspiring. (Oh I feel like I'm getting all mushy and sentimental now) Good luck breaking up that fight...lol
I like when couples do wedding their own way, especially when they are looking beyond the big day and looking towards the future. It is an important day, but still just one in a lifetime of being together.
I agree with Tin's sentiments on the topic.
I was delighted recently when talking with my son's fiance (they are to marry in May - the day after their college graduation). I was so happy to hear that she's going to do some things to make the wedding special for the 2 of them but is way more into the upcoming marriage than the wedding itself.
Smart move I say. Why pay so much to feed people who probably turn up to just be critical of thing.........LOL!
kalau bulih dulu2 kan..sia mau kawin main register and makan sama family jak..hahahah nasib baik di kampung mesti mau buat makan2..
Sia suka wedding yang simple jak... :)
Ann ~ I love weddings! I love observing people... hehe. Oh, I'd get all emo watching sad movies and whenever I hear old songs from the past.
Thanks. I do feel like a referee sometimes :)
Hi Tina! Welcome to Mumblings :)
I wish I did the same for my wedding, I dreamed of having a garden themed wedding and just a simple dress. I ended up wearing a Cinderella-like dress with puffed up sleeves (gasp!). I cringe every time I see my photos. Well, that was 15 years ago... LOL!
Hi Tracy! Welcome to my humble blog :)
Your future daughter-in-law is a smart woman! Thanks for dropping by.
Mat Dingo ~ Hey! Long taim no see! Where've you been??
LOL! Ooh, pedas komen itu... but I agree. Most would be critical, from the food, to the dress, to the decor... human nature la katakan.
KadusMama ~ Iya, sia pun. I wish I could turn back the clock tapi apakan daya...
There's just something about simple weddings kan :)
