"SOUTH Korean police, in one of their more heavyweight cases, are investigating whether a zoo elephant threw a stone at a woman visitor!"
Gwangjin Police Station in eastern Seoul began an investigation Tuesday into a report from a 48-year-old woman, identified as a Kim, alleging she sustained a head injury after being hit by a rock thrown by an elephant.
According to police officers, Kim went to the zoo in the Children’s Grand Park Monday afternoon and was hit by a rock she claimed an elephant threw at her using its trunk.
However, she admitted that she didn’t see the rock being thrown by the elephant.
“I was passing the lion’s den and heading toward the elephant enclosure,” she was quoted as saying. “Then, I passed out after being hit on the back of my head.”
When she came to, she found two rocks the size of an adult’s fist nearby. All she remembered was that two elephants had coiled their trunks and stared at her.
Police said that Kim went to the zoo office and reported it before going home, believing her pain would go away. When the pain came back, she checked into a hospital and reported the incident to the police.
She blamed the park office for the elephants’ behavior but police didn’t say whether she was seeking damages.
Police were at a loss what to do at first but decided to investigate whether her account was true.
OK, this is the first time I've ever read about elephants throwing rocks at humans. Elephants are gentle creatures, unless of course you provoke them. There must be a reason why the elephant did that (if). Let's call the elephant 'Ellie', shall we. And I declare Ellie IS innocent until proven guilty!
So, what do you think happened??
My assumptions are :~
a. Kim was a true beauty, the elephants wanted her attention by throwing rocks at her
b. Kim stared at the elephants earlier when she passed by their enclosure and the elephants wanted revenge
c. It was the Lions who threw the stones; cos they were darn hungry
d. Kim was hallucinating!

Hi Nessa,
I left you a few tips back on my blog. But back to Ellie and Kim...I say Kim is a beautiful woman with a vivid imagination and an empty wallet. Clearly there no real way to prove or disprove that Ellie threw the rock...so now Kim can possibly file a lawsuit against the zoo (believe me people have sued for things just as silly as this).
Let's hope the bad press doesn't hurt Ellie's reputation too much. LOL (really cute story)

I think Kim has indeed provoked Ellie... She threw a rock at Ellie and Ellie threw back at her... OR could be Kim was eating peanuts and Ellie wanted some, so, she threw some rocks to get her attention... OR Kim's face looked like an elephant, so Ellie was just playing hahahaaa....
Nessa, i am here as Ellie's lawyer (ellie is actually super rich since she is the main attraction at the zoo and Kim is just trying to get an easy money) HohO..

Kim has some serious attitude problems, and it was actually one of the zoo staffs who did throw the two rocks.
Why two rocks? Well no surprise since the staff had the idea after watching the Malaysia advert of Minyak Masak Sri Murni.

A actually believe this story. Only because, when I was living in Seoul, Korea and elephant got lose and ran around down town. I don't know what it is about elephants in Korea but hey it could be something in the water!
What a silly woman! As you said - elephants are the most gentle of creatures. They don't pick up a stone and take aim at you, that's absurd.
As for my previous commenter - perhaps Korean people should take a closer look at the keepers of elephants - yeah, mistreated animals have a tendency to 'run loose'. Which animal wouldn't?
